We currently run 4 Senior Saturday XI's - the 1st XI play in the Premier 1 Division of the West of England Premier League and our 2nd XI play in Division 2 of the Wiltshire Cricket League  Our 3rd and 4th XI's also play in the Wiltshire Cricket League.  We also run a Sunday X1 which plays Friendlies,

We also have a thriving Youth section with sides at U19, U15, U13, U11 and U9 level, as well as a ladies teamas and two sides for girls at U11 and U15 levels.  All of our coaching staff have been CRB checked and we have three UKCC3,four UKCC Club Coaches, eight UKCC2 and twelve UKCC Level 1 coaches helping to run our Youth section.

We are also a hub for disability cricket in Wiltshire and we also possess, as a Club, the prestigious 'ECB Clubmark' award - a sign that our club has been audited, inspected and approved as a safe, child-friendly and effective place to learn the game of cricket.  We are also one of 18 ECB Focus Clubs in the County - an acknowledgement that we are helping the Cricket Board deliver excellence in cricket coaching and provision of opportunity for junior cricketers.

Aside from all this we have a very active fund-raising committee which enables us to raise around £15,000.00 per year from fund-raising efforts and sponsorship, including Sponsored Walks, Quiz Nights, Six-a-side tournaments, Race Nights,  Fantasy Cricket and a 200 Club draw.  This enables us to ensure that our facilities are continually upgraded - indeed we have just completely refurbished our pavilion and viewing area to make it one of the most inviting clubs in WIltshire and beyond.

If you are interested in being involved at our Club in any way - as a player, parent, junior member or sponsor, please get in touch - you would be made very welcome.  Please either contact the relevant person from the 'Contacts' section of this site or just e-mail to graham@gaigerbros.co.uk in the first instance.

Club History

Potterne Cricket Club was formed, as part of Potterne Sports Club, in 1936. This isn't to say that the village hadn't been represented before that date - records of a match against Devizes in 1843 bear testament to the fact.

Few records exist of cricketing activities throughout the 19th Century, but an ignominious record was achieved early in the 20th. During a match in 1907 Potterne were bowled out for the score of 0, a feat that hopefully will never be repeated!

On March 27 1936, Potterne Sports Club was formed, covering cricket, football and tennis. The football section of the club didn't take off - the team wanted to play non-villagers, and that was against the club's rules. Interest died off in tennis, leaving cricket as the only sport represented by the club. This remained the case until the outbreak of the Second World War, when the Club ceased to function.

In 1947 interest in cricket was sufficient to enable the Club to start playing cricket again. Since then the Club has gone from strength to strength, and in 2010 the Club ran four teams on a Saturday for the first time in its history.

Now at the age of 77, the club is bigger and more successful than ever. The First XI are in the West of England Premier League Premier 2 , the Seconds in it's 2nd X1 Glos/Wilts equivalent, with the 3rds in Wiltshire League Division 3 and the 4th X1 in Division 6. We also have U9,U11,U13, U15 and U18 youth teams as well as U11 and U15 Girls sides. We have also recently completed a fantastic 3 lane practice net, making our facilities some of the best in the league. With the possession of the ECB Clubmark accreditation and being an ECB Focus Club the future looks bright at Potterne.
